Beach and Bay
Our home overlooks North Chatham’s Pleasant Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Although the coastal geography is shifting quickly these days, there is still a barrier beach—the outer bar—dividing the bay from the ocean. If you'd like to rent kayaks--there are plenty of places nearby—that makes for an excellent way to explore the bay.
Just about 100 feet from the house is a staircase down to the beach, where there is excellent swimming at high tide, endless entertainment observing sea creatures at low tide, and always a nice wide beach to nap or play on.
The length of beach in front of the property is private. In Massachusetts, beaches are private down to the low tide mark, so sometimes people will clam or fish in the shallow water. This is a friendly neighborhood and we do allow people to walk on our beach, but only people staying at the house will settle in with their beach towels.
